Extracurricular Activities

  • Research for Bellingcat | 2019 I Conducted research for Bellingcat via the “The International Research by Students Programme” (IRSP) at the University of Groningen. Bellingcat invited us to examine potential disinformation campaigns targeting the Syrian Civil Defence, also known as the White Helmets. Over the course of this project I gained relevant and valuable experience in critical thinking and analytic research, as well as unique insights in the world of investigative journalism.
  • Speakers Coordinator | 2018-2019 | Clio's Forum Committee invites speakers from the field of IR to give lectures on their expertise. In addition, the Committee organizes 'the Night of IR', during which participating students get to attend three 1-hour lectures from various speakers, through a rotating schedule that leads them to different locations. As Speakers Coordinator it was my responsibility to approach potential guest speakers, to maintain contact with those speakers and to welcome them at my university.
  • Daily Program Coordinator | 2017-2018| Clio's Travel Committee organizes study trips for Clio members to a foreign destination related to the field of International Relations. As committee we planned a fully prepared one-week trip for 45 fellow students to the Russian cities of Moscow and St. Petersburgh. As Daily Program Coordinator, I was responsible for the day-to-day schedule. This responsibility included contacting embassies, organizations and universities about a potential visit, sorting out transport and logistical issues, and arranging activities the participants.
